A Christmas-time thought.

For the past several months, I’ve been posting and podcasting on collaboration. I’ve had the chance to speak with experts and participants from many different countries so far to hear how they think about collaboration and how they have experienced collaboration in action.

Collaboration has been described to me as an orchestra of master artists, a democratic virtue, something that is done with people instead of to people, an experience of possibility, win-win, a relationship for building trust, and a way to celebrate our common humanness.

As I reflect on what so many talented people have shared with me about collaboration in this last week before Christmas, I wanted to share a simple observation. Our experience in successful collaboration is a bit like our experience at this time of year. At Christmas, just like collaboration, there is a ‘coming together’ that brings us happiness, whether that means we come together in our thoughts, in-person, or virtually. Our togetherness makes us stronger.

Merry Christmas all! And Happy Collaborating!
